Save-A-Load, Inc. ahead of new security concerns

March 13, 2013
by

These days the word security applies to many areas of our lives. From home protection
to identity theft we need to take precautions to maintain that security. For the cargo shipping industry proper security means stationary cargo, accident prevention, profit protection and possibly avoiding a violation.

American Trucker magazine recently ran an article on cargo securement pointing out that violations are being issued under the Compliance Safety Accountability Program (CSA). Of all the different violations issued by the Federal Motor Carrier Administration, a staggering 82% were for failure to properly secure loads.

Save-A-Load, Inc. was pleased to be included in this article where President, Larry Sweet, pointed out the recent growth of cargo securement, partially due to the heightened awareness from the CSA violations. Larry added that fleet feedback indicates proper cargo security can even prevent driver injury. The article goes on to tout our Heavy Duty IQ 200 Cargo Bar with the internal spring, pressure-limiting valve and push-button release as security and safety features of the entire line of Save-A-Load® cargo bars. This design allows our bars to stay in place at an angle, or when trailer walls flex, or temperatures change.

For added security, while our bars and accessories secure your cargo, you can secure your cargo bars in several ways. When the bar is in place the LS-10 locking sleeve coversthe push-button release so your bar stays where you put it. Bars cannot be removed from your trailer without you unlocking them.

When bars are not in use, your bars can be secured with our locking ATR-20 or ATR-30 anti-theft racks. If you cannot mount the anti-theft rack, our 2-piece bar is the solution for more compact storage.

Custom colors and customized engraving on Save-A-Load® bars are options now being offered. You can now have your logo, name, or other information engraved right on your bar for additional identity and added security.

Environmental-Friendliness and Efficiency are not Mutually Exclusive

Do you know what the most commonly recycled metal in the world is???

Well, it just so happens to also be a leading material in terms of weight and versatility, for countless items from automobiles to every day household items and electronics…

We’ll give you another hint: like many other leading companies, we use this metal primarily in our products. If you know our load bars, then you must know for sure that we’re talking about aluminum! As we see many companies making the switch to aluminum; with Ford looking to aluminum as the lighter-weight metal of choice for its most popular vehicle (the F150), we can attest to the tremendous impact this metal has had for us and our customers.

When we set out to make a one-of-a-kind bar, we wanted to maximize value in ALL areas. We were intent on not sacrificing efficiency and eco-friendliness standards for the sake of performance. In setting out to achieve a truly inventive product, our environmental objectives were two-fold: make the product long-lasting while also considering a low impact on the environment:

  • As proof of the former, our bars have been proven to last 3 to 4 times longer than competing products (think about the eliminated waste in landfills that adds up to… ), and they’re easily repairable.
  • Additionally, our efforts resulted in a bar made of a recyclable, environmentally-safe metal, using biodegradable hydraulic fluid that is also FDA-approved and non-toxic.

As many of our clients have committed to green alternatives throughout their supply chain, we enable them to keep this commitment daily in the loading and distribution process. Check out this video on how many companies are turning to aluminum.

Spotlight on Quality Logistics

Helping people ship more efficiently and safely has been integral to our mission from day one. As a result, throughout our growth, we’ve always made quality a top priority for materials, product development, and our operations. It only makes sense then that one of our longtime, most valuable resources, UPS, seeks to help people ship smarter. One of the many ways they’ve set out to do this is through a publication filled with case studies and tips that can help every type of business grow: Compass® Magazine. And, we’re excited to have been recently featured in its Fall edition!

Starting out as a messenger company over a hundred years ago, UPS has grown into a multi-billion dollar corporation, best known for its trademark brown trucks and delivery services. But what UPS also offers is a host of other support services and software. One that has been instrumental in allowing us to keep our high standards is WorldShip®. This tool has aided in our commitment to accuracy and repeatability. So we were truly honored when UPS’s Compass chose to feature Save-A-Load, its growth and operational standards as a case study: “When Quality Meets Efficiency”.

UPS Compass

For automating, tracking, and ultimately saving time and paperwork, incorporating UPS’ products (others include UPS Paperless™ and Quantum View®) into our logistics has put our quality philosophy into action, and kept our customers happy along the way. As we help companies solve their shipping problems, we’re working to maximize value and optimize operations. We hope you’ll check out the article – you can download an electronic version here – but stay tuned for more quality insights based on our operations here at Save-A-Load.

Are those my load bars??

Believe it or not, this is not so uncommon of a question. As drivers can attest, the process of loading and unloading at docks across the country can often be a hectic process. Maybe things are running behind schedule, or maybe the loading docks are extra busy that day. Whatever the case may be — bars are often left behind or misplaced.

At Save-A-Load, Inc., we know that this can not only be a frustration and inconvenience in the distribution process, but it can have costly implications as well. Since our customers rely on our line of load bars to protect their cargo, we want to help them protect these investments as well. That’s why we’ve introduced another service to prevent lost and misplaced load bars…

This new and inexpensive solution is achieved by ENGRAVING your bars.

Whether it’s by adding your company name and location, drivers’ number, unit number, or even logos, your drivers will be able to easily identify your bars. And, in the unfortunate event, your cargo bars are left behind or taken.

Pink Load Bars for a Great Cause

October 9, 2012
by

Once again, this year, Save-A-Load will be helping bring awareness to the scourge that is breast cancer. Each year, October is National Breast Cancer Awareness month and Save-A-Load is trying to do its part. In an attempt to come up with a way to catch peoples’ attentions, we decided to once again sell special pink versions of our innovative load bars.  With each of these special bars that we sell, we will be donating a portion of the sales to this inspiring event.

For the past 25 years many different organizations, including the ACS, CancerCare, NMA, Susan G Komen, and Y-ME have been collaborating to promote awareness of breast cancer issues and has evolved along with the national dialogue on breast cancer. At Save-A-Load, we are committed to not only bringing our customers the best load bars in the world, but also in doing everything we can to give back to the communities that have supported us all these years. Even if you can’t pick up one of our pink load bars, please donate your time and money to any of the organizations that make up National Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
